Well, I decided before reading the entire InDesign book, I've decided to go with this one. Everything seems to be going to web, and I need to learn more. I've had this book for a while now (it was a requirement for one of my classes, though we never even opened it) and I decided that it was time to read the thing.
I finished Chapter 1 last night. I'm planning on reading a chapter a day, but I haven't even started on Chapter 2 yet and it's already 4 pm! (Typical me.)
I really like the way this book is set up; it's separated into the layers of web design: structural, presentation, and behavioral. Chapter 1 starts off with basically everything I need to know and ever want to know about the history of web standards, the browser wars, and the different organizations that are trying to push things forward. It also offers a lot of references for further reading. One in particular that I would like to check out is the ietf.org website. IETF is the Internet Engineering Task Force, and on their site you can find out new technologies that are currently in development. I haven't checked it out yet, and you probably will before I do XD
